Noragami

I've just recently started to read Noragami, and it is quite interesting..

It's about a god who is pretty useless, and his adventures. The god, of course, is a good-looking guy with bright blue eyes, and (of course), he had a dark past.

The manga is like a comedy at times, but can also be very serious.

Recently, I've been reading a lot of shoujo manga that I don't usually read because I was running low on shounen manga ;-; I'm glad that I found Noragami.

The best part is that Noragami is getting an anime this winter! Two days away from episode one! I can't wait! :D

Kasane

Ah, I apologize for the lack of posting ><

Kasane:

A manga that has a few translated chapters, but an interesting concept.

The world discrimates ugly people, and favours beautiful people.

An ugly girl is the daughter of a famous actress, but her mother dies, leaving her with a magical lipstick. When she puts on the lipstick, she will swap faces with whoever she kissed.

She is bullied by everyone at school, and she does not know at first how to use the lipstick. When she discovers what the lipstick can do, she plans her revenge, but also become emotionally conflicted.

Although there are only 4 chapters to this manga as of now, it is an interesting read.

It is not a simple shoujo manga; it definitely messes with your mind. The art style is also quite frightening at times.

Although you might not realize it, but when you read this, you will also unconsciously discriminate and judge the ugly girl. She is pitiful, but is also very violent, selfish, and vengeful.

However, when she swaps faces:

A sudden transformation into a beautiful girl who is misunderstood by the world.

An interesting and short read, but definitely not for you if you are looking for something happy and fluffy.

The Trolling Tite Kubo (and others)

Every seasoned otaku has experienced the trolls.

It is prime time for me to post some sort of a rant on the trolls done by some of my favourite reads.

First, Noriyaki "Tite" Kubo, creator of Bleach.
Before I begin, let me say that Bleach is one of my favourite mangas, but the trolls involved are extremely entertaining.

Bleach, the manga that was awesome and detailed in the beginning, then it slowly turned overly redundant, and then plain senseless.

Kubo is what we call the King of Trolls.

Allow me to list some examples of reasons why Bleach is entertaining in a different way.

Hair gives one strength. Yes, HAIR. When your hair is longer, you will become stronger. Note Ichigo during his final fight with Aizen. Note Ulquiorra and Grimmjow in their evolved form. Hair gets longer, every single time.

No backgrounds. Kubo rarely draws proper backgrounds, and when he does, it's usually pillars or sand.

The Heart. If you are into Kubo trolls, you would know what I'm talking about. That page when Ulquiorra dies:

Yep, that's all we're ever gonna tell you. Ain't gonna explain anything.

Character Design.

The picture says it all.

Names. They were fine in the beginning of the manga, but one starts to notice serious problems in the Vandenreich arc. Names like NaNaNa...hmm...Kubo has created way too many characters, and not enough names. Not to mention he forgets about half of the characters he creates.

Fashion Design more important than Plot. Click on the link. It is worth reading.

Yammy gets stronger by getting angry. Ok.

Villians are German and Spanish. Apparently the bad guys have to be the foreigners. Additionally, the Vandenreich is almost too similar to the Third Reich, if anyone is familiar with Hitler and the Nazis.

Only Six Faces. This is the name of a trope that appears too much in Bleach. The characters have the same face, and the only thing that differentiates them is their hair and clothing.

Plotkai. All those plotkais. Google it.

Don't get me wrong. Bleach is great. All these memes and tropes are just funny.

Allow me to end off with a compilation.  (I did not create it, but I apologize for all the bad language)

Now, Mashima Hiro, creator of Fairy Tail.

Apparantly, his troll sensei was Kubo.  (Again, this is not mine. Credits go to ~SerumX @DeviantArt)

Not too much I can say, as I know Bleach much more than Fairy Tail.

And another compilation (not mine):

Thank you for reading.

Angel Beats!

Another friend-recommended manga.

I started to read it, because there was nothing else to read, and it turned out to be interesting.

When people die, but they die unsatisfied, they will go to a world where it will give them peace and pleasure. This world is a generic school, there most of the teachers and students are programmed with generic personalities to accompany the humans. A girl named Yuri believes that there is a "god" who is pulling the strings behind  this world, and she wants to meet and defeat him. She gathers a team of other dead humas to form a resistance group against this "god". The story is told from the perspective of a schoolboy by the name of Otonashi. Throughout the story, they are able to gather up many different comrades -- a time-traveller, an idiot, a gunmaker, a mage ("mage"), and many others.

For the most part, their enemy is the "tenshi". She is the student council president. The resistance club has named this girl "angel", and she possesses supernatural powers.

^that's the Angel for you

^the hand sonic, Angel's supernatural weapon.

Although i enjoy reading it, there are some things that bother me.

The tenshi protects the defenseless.

Yuri has used this fact to lure in the tenshi many times. Yuri renders herself defenseless while fighting others. Then the tenshi protects Yuri. However, Yuri is utterly determined to destroy the tenshi and use her to lure in "god".

Also, why does Otonashi keep following Yuri? This question has been bought up many times in the manga, but i feel that it was never really fully explained.

And...why doesn't Yuri just happily pass on? Why is she so determined to meet this "god"? This question might be answered in future chapters...but I'm not so sure.

Oresama Teacher

A manga about delinquents, highschool, and corruption.

A story that focuses on a girl ex-delinquent who was arrested. After she is released, she is put in a private school, and she wants to live a normal highschool life.

It is an interestin read, but it is bot those mabgas that you cannot put down. If anyone enjoys reading about tomboys, fighting, and highschoolife, i suggest you to try it. Personally, it was an interesting read at first, but the tension and the suspense wore off. However, i do suggest this for anyone who does not want manga to completely kill their time.

Durarara!

Yes, I have tried reading it before (and yes, I realize that it is more of an anime than a manga)

I read the first chapter, then I stopped. I don't really remember why.

Because I had some spare time, I decided to try to read it again.

And I realized exactly how different the world of Durarara is from the world we live in, and I realized exactly how twisted it is. That, however, is not the worst part -- the worst part is the realization that we might one day become that society.

A boy falls in love with a girl's head. He loves it so much that he will kill others in order to protect it.

His sister is in love with him. She is in love so much that she will do anythings in order to keep a good relationship.

A guy likes to watch others suffer. He will meet suicidal people, make them mad, and then kill them.

That is the basic gist of Durarara!...

It is rare for me to come upon a manga that deals so much about relationships between individuals at this level. The plot is also extremely complex, showing with depth the lives of every individual.

This is one of those mangas that cause you to stop and ponder.
